Despite the probable illegality of the decision to CLOSE the Bloedel Conservatory, the Vancouver Park Board has moved ahead with their decision to accept Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from any and all public, private or corporate parties to manage and operate (in a similar or new capacity) the Bloedel Conservatory. The process still enables the Park Board and City to choose a useage for the Conservatory that is other than our beautiful floral oasis. The Conservatory will remain open while they consider all Expressions of Interests.

Friends of the Bloedel submitted our Expression of Interest in partnership with the VanDusen Botanical Garden Association. This is now being considered along with 3 other proposals from private companies. A report about the EOI's will be made at the Services and Budget Committee on the evening of Tuesday, July 20th at the Park Board office Boardroom at 6:30pm (2099 Beach Avenue). This committee will then vote and make their recommendation to the full Park Board.

Join us on the evening of the July 20th to show your support for the acceptance of our EOI proposal at the Vancouver Park Board.

Most importantly, please e-mail your elected Park Board Commissioners and tell them that you support the Friends of the Bloedel Association in partnership with the VanDusen Garden Botanical Association. Request that the Commissioners accept our expression of interest. Please send a copy to us at: hambull@interlog.com so that we can compile these and present letters of support at this public meeting on July 20th.

You can e-mail the commissioners as follows:
